Pre-Commerical Thinning (PCT) and Stand Improvement

PCT work involves spacing planted red pine and natural jack pine regeneration to achieve target densities. The majority of the work would best be completed with chainsaws, with a small portion potentially suited to brushsaw treatment.
The stand improvement work involves cutting undesirable mid story trees (sapling and polewood size) to release existing crop trees, and to create favourable conditions for establishment of new regeneration.
A site viewing will be conducted on Tuesday December 7. The site viewing will start from the Lemke Lake parking lot at 7:30 AM (see link to map). You are requested to confirm attendance by 3:00 PM on Monday December 6th. Attendance is to be confirmed by emailing tom.dolan@algonquinforestry.on.ca The viewing is mandatory for contractors that have not performed silviculture work for the AFA in the past 5 years.
More details about treatment requirements and areas will be available at the site viewing, or by requesting a sample contract (through this web page).
