We invite you to participate in the preparation and review of the 2010-2020 Forest Management Plan for the Algonquin Park Forest.
AFA has prepared the Draft Forest Management Plan in cooperation with Algonquin Park MNR, local Algonquin Aboriginal communities, and the Algonquin Park Local Citizen’s Committee. We are currently in stage 4 of the 5 stage planning process - the Review of the Draft Forest Management Plan.
The 2010-2020 Forest Management Plan for the Algonquin Park Forest covers the planning period from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2020. It describes the long-term strategic direction to provide for the sustainability of the Algonquin Park Forest. The Plan also provides details of harvest, renewal, and tending operation locations for the first five years (2010-2015) and proposed areas of operation for the second five-year period (2015-2020).
Public Consultation for the new 10 year period will be in two phases. Phase 1 covers detailed operations for the first 5-year term and preferred areas for the second 5-year term. Phase 2 covers detailed operations for the second 5- year term with consultation beginning in the last year of the first 5- year term.
The 2010-2020 Draft Forest Management Plan is available for public inspection and comment from December 2009 to February12, 2010. Open houses to review the Draft Plan were conducted in December 2009 as detailed in the link above. The Draft Forest Management Plan is also be available here.
